Executive Officers for the
2025/2026 and 2026/2027 school years
I am most excited to be stepping into the role of PCSEA President. As part of this transition, I would like to share a few details about myself and how I came to this role. I started with Propel in 2021, Ann-Marie Joyce found me within a week of starting, and I was excited to join the group. Since then, I have been serving on a PSEA state task force on school safety. Last year, I became both the PCSEA local representative to the Western Region and also served as our local treasurer. This year, I'm thrilled to be taking on the position of local president, and I'll also be helping our region as part of the leadership development committee.
On a more personal note, I'm a proud dad to two girls, ages 17 and 15, and we have a dog and two cats who keep us on our toes! Outside of family commitments, my free time is usually dedicated to one of two things. My main passion is triathlon—it's my sport, my hobby, and my biggest interest. In fact, I'll be competing at Nationals again in early August. My other fun hobby is being the music director for the Pittsburgh Beer Choir—it's just a great group of people who get together, sing some songs, and enjoy a pint at a local brewery.
It has been so exciting to watch our union grow over the last 4 years! There are so many things that have improved during that time and I am looking forward to what the next few years will bring.
I have taught everything from Kindergarten Music classes to college-level courses over my 23 year teaching career. One thing that I know to be true is that when teachers stay in the building longer, it helps to build better relationships with our students. Teacher retention is one of the main reasons I became involved with helping to organize the union. We have definitely seen an improvement with retention and hopefully we can continue moving forward.
I am excited to transition from my role as PCSEA Vice President to PCSEA Secretary and am eager to continue contributing to the Executive Team. It has been an honor to serve alongside such an amazing group, and I anticipate the continued growth of the Union.
My tenure with Propel started in March 2017 at Propel Northside as a School Counselor. Subsequently, in August 2017, I transferred to Propel Pitcairn, where I have remained since. I endeavor to be a reliable and approachable resource for scholars, families, and staff.
Outside of my professional commitments, I am a mother to a six-year-old daughter, Aislynn, whose involvement in dance, cheer, and musical theatre occupies much of my time. I am also engaged to Michael. We plan to marry next September 2026.
When I am not engaged in work, my daughter's activities, or wedding planning, I enjoy exploring new restaurants, dexperimenting with recipes, reading, practicing hot yoga, and trying recommended wines.
As I enter the role of PCSEA Grievance Chair, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I joined Propel in 2015 and was part of the first group of educators who began organizing toward unionization. Since then, it’s been inspiring to watch our collective voice take shape while participating in negotiations and as the Southside union rep. I’m proud to now also support members across all seven LEAs and thirteen school buildings in this new capacity, as we work through concerns and collect ideas to improve future contracts.
On the non-union side, I’m someone who thrives on both structure and creativity. I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership, coach teachers across the network, and still dind time to lift heavy things at the gym and run a crafting side hustle. I’m always available to talk about books, TV, the last restaurant you loved, or, as a proud dog mom, fur children.
If you ever have a question or concern regarding the CBA—go to your union rep first! BUT, if you want to catch up or get deep into the meaning of your dreams, please reach out.
I am looking forward to starting this year as the PCSEA Treasurer. To share a bit about myself, before joining Propel, I worked as an Industrial Engineer in the manufacturing industry. While I enjoyed my work as an engineer, I have long been passionate about education and decided to transition into a career as a math teacher. In 2022, I joined Propel as part of the Teacher Residency Program and haven’t looked back! My support for organized labor was born on the manufacturing floor and has grown with me as an educator in the classroom. I am eager to play a role in continuing the work of PCSEA.
Outside of work, I will be studying Education Policy at the University of Pittsburgh starting this year. I enjoy spending time with my wife, Taylor, and our two fur children, Kona and Paloma. I’m an avid quilter and love any excuse to talk about creative projects. I also love to read, watch movies, and have recently started singing with the Pittsburgh Labor Choir.
I am excited to get started this year in the role of EA Advocate General. I started my formal involvement in the union in 2023 when I was elected building rep for Propel East, a job I thoroughly enjoyed both in helping other teachers in our building begin to understand how the union works for them and what advantages it has, as well as working with administration to fully understand that relationship and how it genuinely benefits everyone. I’ve taught at Propel since 2012, where for the vast majority of that time I’ve been the instrumental music teacher at Propel East and Propel Pitcairn, splitting my time each day between the two buildings. In that role I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate and work with multiple leadership teams, grade level teachers, been a curriculum lead in the Fine Arts Department, a new teacher mentor, planned network wide concerts and events, and a wide range of other experiences. I feel I have a unique perspective to offer based on my many years of service, as well as having branched out and worked with so many different people, departments, and stakeholders within Propel.
I also come from a long line of organized labor leaders/supporters in my family, and am and always have been unapologetically pro union. I believe our ability to organize collectively in the workplace, regardless of what that workplace may be, is one of our countries greatest strengths, and it is something we all must double down on and lean into, especially in the troubling times we are living through right now. Outside of Propel, I own and operate The Pittsburgh Steeline, the official drumline of the Pittsburgh Steelers, where I have worked part time for the Steelers since 2012. I also am active in politics, currently serving as an Allegheny County Democratic Committee Member. Outside of work, I own two boats and love spending time on the water, especially my 24’ pontoon boat, “Not Penny’s Boat,” (any fans of the 2000s TV show “LOST” recognize that name? ;). I also do as much drumming and performing as can, both with and outside of the Steeline.
I’m honored to be serving with you all this year! If I can ever be of assistance, please let me know.
My name is Jennifer Stover (I prefer Jenn) and I am currently working as a Literacy Intervention Specialist at Propel Hazelwood. I have been working for Propel in various roles since 2013. I believe in the importance of respect, empathy, intelligence and curiosity. I believe everyone has a right to feel safe in their workplace. I believe being paid a fair wage for the work that you do is a basic right.
Before education, my background and work experience was in Chemical Engineering. I am currently a published author, and do various acting jobs for Kennywood.
I appreciate getting to know new people, so if you see me, say hello!
